My word for the year is “Steward”, as I shared here: A Rooted Steward.
I like choosing a word or phrase each year, and have been given one each year, because it gives me a focus for how I am live out the year. It also gives me the lens through which I can see how God is growing me so that I can align with Him in that. These are the new planners and journals I’ve chosen to be intentional with that purpose.
I never seem to be ready for the new year and those first few weeks of transitioning to new planners and journals can be so disorienting. I’m taking the month to ease into setting them up fully. So, for now, here’s the stack that will hold the story of the year. I’ll share more about them on my planner account on Instagram here: @the.restful.planner.

Morning journal: Midori B6 Slim notebook
I really enjoyed using the Midori B6 Slim grid notebook as a morning journal last year so I brought it back this year.
I use it to record any dreams that I can recall upon waking. This practice was very insightful last year! I also jot down reminders, ideas, and anything else that is on my mind after waking up. Doing this reduces the mental clutter and feeling of overwhelm as I start the day, and will be helpful in stewarding my mind.
Work planner: B6 notebook
Work has been simplified this year and is mostly volunteer work. It consists of managing this blog and content on other social media platforms. I am also an affiliate and creative team member for Creative Worship Stamps. This is how I steward the spiritual gifts entrusted to me to benefit the church.
All I really need is a monthly overview and space for a weekly to do list. So, I’m using a B6 notebook, bujo-style, as a companion to my main planner. I love the compact size and the theme is so inspiring. It is part of a trio by @dogoodpaperco and can be found on their website here: Rise and Shine notebooks.
Main planner: undated TAS B6 planner
My main planner this year is the undated TAS B6 planner by @theangelshoppe and I’m loving it so far! Find it here: B6 TAS planners.
Life has also been simplified and many of my daily tasks have become rhythms. So, I’m planning less and need less room for that. I’ve also switched to more minimal planning because I experienced a lot of creative burnout last year and want to conserve that energy for other projects. I will use it to steward home, family, and personal life.
Wellness: H&O A5 Minimalist Horizontal
It’s been a while since I’ve shared wellness content and I hope to get back to writing on the topic soon.
I used a horizontal Hemlock & Oak planner last year for wellness and it worked well. So, I chose it again this year but opted for the minimalist version this year. I love the gentle self care prompts already built into the planner to help me check in with myself and ask “how are you, what do you need today?” I will use it to steward my health and wellbeing.
Life journal: B5 lined notebook
This journal is a place to record what I’m learning and how I’m growing, with an emphasis on gratitude journaling. I will use it to steward my heart and mind.
It’s a B5 lined notebook by @dogoodpaperco The paper is wonderfully thick and holding up to my markers and inks.
I’ve paired it with some fruity accessories by @maylay.co. I’m currently working through her gratitude prompts for January which is a lovely way to start or end the day.
Personal memories: Classic Vertical Happy Planner
On a similar note, I’m using a classic Happy Planner in the vertical layout for personal memories. This is less about having an archive or something to look back on, but as a form of gratitude for the everyday simple joys.
Faith: Classic Dashboard Happy Planner
I’m using another classic Happy Planner as a faith planner this year. This one is an undated planner in the dashboard layout that I had in my stash. It’s not faith themed, but I took inspiration from some of their faith planners which use a similar layout. I use it for prayer lists, scripture writing, study notes, etc. as a way to steward my faith and relationship with God.
