Sing through the pain

The song on repeat lately is “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever”.

Written by Martin Smith. I’ve been loving this rendition by Shane & Shane.

Over the mountains and the sea
Your river runs with love for me
And I will open up my heart
And let The Healer set me free

I’m happy to be in the truth
And I will daily lift my hands
For I will always sing
Of when Your love came down

I could sing of your love forever
Oh, I feel like dancing
It’s foolishness, I know
But when the world has seen the light
They will dance with joy
Like we’re dancing now

I will sing of your love forever

I Could Sing of Your Love Forever – Shane & Shane

This week is busier than usual because we’re preparing to move next week. Lots of decluttering, cleaning and packing going on and my body is taking a beating!

Doing the simplest of chores these days leaves me in so much pain. My knees ache. My feet hurts. My back and shoulders droop. The muscles in my arms throb in pain. This seems a more extreme response than the usual aches that can accompany a physical activity. I’m not sure yet what’s going on. But, instead of dwelling on it, I take to worship.

I recently came across an album called Hymns (Live) by Shane & Shane. While looking at their discography on Spotify, I landed on this song and was swept away in praise.

The pain didn’t disappear, but my heart was glad.

While He certainly can heal, answer prayers, provide insight, and deliver us from all of our troubles, sometimes He doesn’t. And that’s fine, because of the Good News.

1. Nothing compares to what He’s already done – I have salvation! I get to spend eternity with God. Jackpot!

2. Because of Jesus, I now have access to the Father. No longer separated, I can enter into the presence of God and bask in His great love. I get to spend right now with God. Yesss!

This is all by His grace and totally undeserved. I could sing of His love forever! Oh, I feel like dancing… I won’t though because my knees hurt.

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1 ESV

As you go about your days, in pain or not, I encourage you to remember His steadfast love and let your spirit soar as you sing His praise.
