Resting in His presence

He gives us winter seasons; times of rest and restoration.

He stills us and teaches us to trust. He gives us great peace enabling us to rest.

Learning to rest is the main idea behind this blog. It also forms part of my testimony as I turned to Christ in search of peace and rest. In answer, He gave me what I really needed – Himself – the Source of all peace and the Giver of rest.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I used the Snowstorm Stencil, with an ink blending brush, and Texture Tiles 13 stamp to create the background using a mix of blue inks. Then, I stamped one of the birds from Sweet Birds onto mixed media paper and coloured it using watercolour paint. The snow on the branch wasn’t standing out enough, so I dabbed on some white acrylic paint to bring that out some more. After gluing it to the page, I used the Snowstorm Stencil again to add some snowflakes over the branch so that the image seemed like part of the scenery.

Next, I used the Have Courage stamp to add the words “The LORD is my STRENGTH” below the bird. Then, I used the Peace Joy Love Stencil to add the words “BE STILL” below that. The words “resting in is presence” were typed up on my typewriter then coloured with blue ink using a blending brush. I finished by added some white paint splatters and underlining the text.

🎶 Be Still and Know ~ Ginny Owens

This song greeted me one morning, as a recommended song in Spotify, after a night of prayer regarding my swirling thoughts on the future.

I know that the time is short but I felt alone in my belief and eagerness. It seems like, despite my exhortation, so many I know personally are continuing to go about life as usual and making plans for a future according to the world’s pattern instead of His word.

The song reminded me that God is in control and I can surrender them into His hands. Despite my eagerness for His return, He will lead me Home in the fullness of time and give me peace to endure the wait. He’s also shown me others that are as watchful and eager which encourages my heart.

He is always faithful, friend. He can be trusted with what you carry.

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
