God is all around us and always with us; He never left…
This is my third entry as I journal through “Rest Here” – the October 2025 devotional by Illustrated Faith, written by @kristina.proffitt. In “Rest Here”, Kristina encourages us to enter into God’s rest; to create space for physical and spiritual rest. She shares some of the ways we can do that as well as the benefits in doing so.
In previous posts, I shared my reflections on the first session, titled “Pause”, here: Rest in hope. Then, on the second session, titled “Prayer”, here: Rest in His grace. Now, these pages are for the session on “Presence” where Kristina reminds us that God goes with us, and is with us in the storms of life.
I love the prayers Kristina included throughout the devotional including this one: “Dear God, Your presence is our greatest gift – peace in the chaos, strength in the struggle, life in all its fullness… Help us to not miss these invitations [to draw close]”
Friends, as we wait for the return of Jesus Christ, the Son, please don’t lose sight of the third Person of the Trinity – the Holy Spirit – Who is with us now. Don’t lose sight of the fruit He’s growing in us during these times through all we face and overcome.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

May He grow us in awareness of His nearness today and may we be overjoyed as we reach for the rest promised. Here a few of the scriptures referenced in this section:
“And he said, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’” [Exodus 33:14]
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” [Deuteronomy 31:8]
“But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” [2 Timothy 4:17-18]
“He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” [2 Corinthians 12:9]
“I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” [Jeremiah 31:25]

🎶 I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130) ~ Shane & Shane
What a loving God that He sent His Spirit to be with us, as we await the return of His Son to complete the work, enabling us to dwell in His presence both now and forevermore.
Lord, help us to rest in Your joy-inspiring presence as we wait for You.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
Psalm 130:5-6
