Walk humbly

Practicing gratitude, i.e. intentionally looking for His daily goodness and mercy, is so very humbling. It changes how we perceive this life and how we walk.

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?” ~ Deuteronomy‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬-‭13‬

I’m thankful for His grace enabling me to live for Him and to receive suffering as blessing.

This is such a simple page but the sunflowers make a big impact. I started by stamping them in the corner using the Sunflower Background stamp. I created a mask by stamping on a piece of scrap paper, cutting it out, and layering over the already stamped flower before stamping the next beside it. Then, I coloured them using watercolour paint and splattered some of it on the page for a messy look.

Next, I used the Vintage Ledger Page stamp on a light brown sticky note using a darker brown ink. I stamped the definition for “grace” over that, using the Faith Definitions 1 stamp set, then glued it to the page. I outlined it using a brown marker and added some doodles along the edges. The pin is also a doodle.

I created the title above the sticky note using the Walk with Jesus stamp set. I stamped a pair of humble crocs beside the words using a stamp from that same set. Above that, I stamped the verse reference using the Jumbo Textured Numbers stamp set and the Boss Lady Alpha stamp set. The colon was done using the dots on the I and J stamps in the Boss Lady Alpha stamp set.

Lastly, I highlighted the verse with a marker then finished with some white paint splatters.

I’m certainly not the type to embrace or run towards suffering, difficulty, or trials. At least, that is not my initial reaction. Is it anyone’s?

However, compared to in the past, I no longer rebel against it like I deserve better or assume it is as an attack from the enemy. Also, compared to in the past, I am now quick to seek God in it and approach with honesty.

And so, I am continually receiving God’s comfort in the midst of it. I am continually shown the purpose in it. And, I am continually restored to peace and grow from it. This is all by His leading and faithfulness; He keeps us humble!

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

Proverbs 11:2

On September 1st, 2025, I woke with these words in my mind – “the days of purification are ahead”. The days that followed involved a lot of heart checks. A lot of seeking and drawing near. A lot of revelations and trials to walk in truth. A lot of laying down and overcoming. Perhaps you’ve felt it as well?

Our Lord is coming and He is preparing His bride.

It is through suffering that we are purified by the washing of the word.
It is through suffering that we are matured and prepared.

Come, Lord Jesus.

The inspiration for this page came from the Walk with Jesus stamp set. It is the last in the series I’ve shared this month as I reflect on having a simple faith – one that is simply focused on Jesus and walking with Him. Find all the posts here: walking with Jesus.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and
to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
