Faith

He is the stillness in the storm

There is strength in stillness.

Some days are for fighting – overcoming by pushing through.
Some days are for being carried – overcoming the urge to do and just rest.

He knows what today holds.
You can trust Him to lead you through it.
You just show up to worship.

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalm‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬

These “100 Days” books are very decorative to begin with so my approach, when journaling in them, is to take inspiration from the design that is already on the page and complement it.

I used the Cloudy Day Edge stencil to add some clouds to the top of the pages. I applied some blue ink using a blending brush. However, I probably used the wrong brush – one that had green ink on it – to get this light greyish green colour.

Next, I used a stamp from the Texture Tiles 13 set to add two “ponds” in blue ink. I stamped the residual ink over and around them to add depth. Then, I stamped two swans from the Swans of Peace stamp set onto mixed media paper and cut them out using the coordinating dies. I coloured the beaks using an orange marker. I also added some beige along their necks as well as the wing tips. Then, I glued them over the ponds.

Next, I stamped the title using the Boss Lady and Typewriter Alpha stamps. Then, I highlighted and outlined the text using markers.

🎶 Come Up Here ~ Jenn Johnson, Bethel

There is an open invitation before us to joyful and restful living.

However, it takes strength to take a hold of that. It takes strength to follow the unconventional path. To not fuel up on caffeine and plow through “doing all the things” but to live surrendered.

The key, I think, is in knowing that our lives are not ours to do with whatever we want. As believers who put our faith in Jesus Christ, we have died and it is now He who lives in and through us. We don’t get to tell Jesus what to do with His life. The servant does not instruct the Lord!

Another key is believing in His goodness and great love. Just look at the extent to which He went to rescue and redeem us. His ways are not burdensome, they bring blessing.

For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.
