Hold on to Me

I’ve woken the past two nights with Psalm 34 on my mind.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬

I don’t know what is on the horizon but I’m preparing myself to endure; for surely spring will come.

I’m donning my armour. I’m counting on His light to guide me. I’m resolving to hold on to the promise that He is with me always. I’m holding on to Him because I know that He’s holding on to me.

We will not be shaken, for He says:
“Do not fear, for I am with you;  do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” [Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬]

It’s hard to describe the process for this page because it took many steps and layers of trial and error. There was heavy shadowing on this side of the page because of the art on the page before it. So, I started by applying some acrylic paint in white and beige to cover that. I stamped the Joshua 1:9 stamp in blue ink over that which made the background look very busy. So, I applied more white paint over that to mute it somewhat. It still didn’t look right but I left it for the moment and moved on.

I stamped a swan from Swans of Peace onto mixed media paper and cut it out using the coordinating die. I coloured the beak and added some shadowing using markers. I added some blue paint to the page where it would lay, as well as to the bottom edge of the swan to match. I also stamped and cut out the words about peace from the same set. I added some colour to it using blue ink and a blending brush. Then, I glued it all to the page.

I stamped the title using the Skinny Caps Alpha stamp set in black ink. Then, I returned to the background.

I added some marks in red ink using a stamp from the Mini Marks 2 set. Then, I applied green ink all over the background using the Diamond Mesh stencil. That made the page look more cohesive but still was missing something. So, I used the Blooms With Grace set to add some flowers which seemed to complete it. I finished with some ink splatters in the same colour as one of the flowers.

🎶 Holding on to You ~ The McClures

We will say:
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” [Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭4‬-‭6‬,8]

For all who call on His name, in humility, will be saved. Jesus saves.
