January scripture recap

This year’s scripture writing is off the great start!

Here is a recap of what I’ve learned about God in January through writing scripture in my faith planner.

He gives wisdom and insight

I was encouraged by reflecting on the wisdom that is available to us through Christ. I’m thankful that He also gives us the insight (understanding) and leads us to not only hear but do (live, walk in) it.

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Matthew 7:24-25

He is sovereign over it all

He builds and watches over. He creates and prepares. He strengthens and brings the harvest. He is the One who does it and He is faithful to do it. I’m thankful that He is Who He promised to be, hallelujah!

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Psalm‬ ‭37‬:‭3‬-‭6‬

He strengthens and adorns our hearts with gentleness and tranquility

I’m thankful that He continually draws us near to sit awhile in His presence; quieting, counselling, and restoring our peace. These are all miracles, and just like Him to do.

let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬

He shows His love in His nearness

He demonstrates His love in hearing our calls for help. In seeing our hearts. And in moving to help, according to His purposes, transforming us in the process. What a wonder!

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Psalm‬ ‭138‬:‭8‬
