What an invitation He extends!
Opening God’s word is like having a Face to face encounter for Heart to heart connection.
An invitation to linger and savour. Delight in His presence; what grace! Delight in His word; what a blessing!
We may not see the growth, but this time of being well rooted will sustain the weathering of storms, and the fruitfulness to come.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
John 6:63

I took inspiration from the layout in my linger & savour notebook as I journaled this page.
I started by stamping the lamp head from the stamp in the Let’s Get Cozy set, and coloured it with markers. Then, I created the background by applying some yellow ink through the Star Pattern stencil. I took inspiration from the red text on the left page and stamped the Wonderful Words of Life image in red ink, as well as the open book image from the Read More set.
Next, I stamped the open book and the flowering book, also from the Read More set, onto mixed media paper. I then cut them out by hand but there are coordinating die sets available. I coloured these using markers. I added some writing to the open book using a stamp from the Vintage Snippets set. Then, I glued both pieces to the page, along with the words “read” and “restore” which are from the Let’s Get Cozy set.
Lastly, I added some phrases from the Worshipful Wordfetti set and I handlettered the words “Face to face” and “Heart to heart”. I finished by adding some acrylic paint splatters and highlighting the verse.

🎶 Face To Face ~ Kendrian & Lauren Dueck
I had a moment in my kitchen yesterday while I was listening to this song. I imagined myself opening the bible like opening the front door and seeing someone on the other side.
While I journal in a physical bible, I typically use an app on my phone to read and study the word. I guess the same experience of encountering God can be had when opening the app, but there is just something about opening a physical book.
At that moment, as I’m thinking this, the power on the main floor went out but quickly came back on. It felt like a nudge for me to reduce my reliance on technology in this aspect.
One reason I prefer to use my phone is because of its size. It’s very handy especially when my desk is cluttered with other notebooks and journals. It’s far more accessible than pulling out a large book. I also prefer using an app, such as Bible Hub and YouVersion, because it is so quick to find a verse. I can also find additional information quickly, such as other translations, cross references, and commentaries. These are all good things and beneficial for studying. However, they make the process “quick”.
I’ve since switched to using a physical bible, primarily. I open it and say “Hello Father. Here I am, speak to me”. It is slower but I’m seeing many benefits from lingering in and savouring the bread of life.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”
