Oh, how great is the love that our God has for us!
Here is a recap of what I’ve learned about God in February through writing scripture in my faith planner.
He loved us first
If you think about it – as Almighty God, sovereign Creator, and Sustainer of life, He could demand anything from us. Yet, what He requires is a life marked by zealous love.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
He showed us how by going first.
He is good, kind, gracious, and merciful to all.
He resurrected our hearts and powers it by His Spirit within.
As Love Ambassadors, may Valentine’s Day be for us a day, not of seeking love, but of resting in the flow of His constant love and pouring it out.
He gave us His word that we may know the way.
Let us not only know, believe, and live His ways, but also truly love them. Let us walk in the truth with great joy as we delight in our good God. Let us persist in love and so thwart the lies and deception of the enemy who seeks only to destroy.
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:10

His love is an endless ocean
This was another week of lovely, encouraging verses and reflecting on our call to abound in love.
“do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.” [Ephesians 4:30-32, 5:1]
I’m so thankful that He does! His love for us is without measure.
The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
Psalm 145:8-9

His love is perfect
His love is perfect, steadfast, abundant, and proven; a refuge. He draws us near and leads us into the wilderness, not as punishment but to know Him better and experience His mighty love.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
1 John 4:18

His love is a stronghold
He is a stronghold; a place of refuge. He is our source of strength, endurance, encouragement, and deliverance. He quiets us by His marvellous love.
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” [Isaiah 30:15]
The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:9-10
