This is a very simple page; perfect for January which can be an overwhelming and disorienting time of transition.
I used the Butterflies in Flight stamp set for the background in green ink. I stamped twice to add depth to the background. However, I covered the text with a piece of paper for the first round of stamping so that it was lighter in colour.
I stamped the single butterfly from the set onto a piece of mixed media paper in orange ink and cut it out by hand. Then, I applied some of that same ink using a blending brush around its edges and underside to darken it. I glued it to the page with the wings raised for some dimension.
Next, I stamped the words from the Joshua 1:9 stamp in the margin. I had to mask off the words using washi tape. I used ink for the most part, but switched to a marker for the smaller words and tighter spaces. The phrase about hard things is from the Butterflies in Flight stamp set.
I loved the distressed look of the stamping and added to that effect using a white gel pen in a few areas. Then, I highlighted the verses using a marker and outlined with a black pen. Lastly, I wrote a prayer of thanks and added a date stamp.

🎶 Hallelujah in the Hard Things ~ TEMITOPE
We can do hard things because we are not alone in them.
Our God goes before us to prepare the way and then walks the path with us.
We also have His word and guiding light to keep us from getting lost or discouraged on the path. It is the sword that we use to battle and overcome the challenges.
I’m thankful for the strength and courage, that comes from His presence, to do hard things and the transformation it brings forth. I’m thankful for the pruning, training, and equipping that prepares me to serve.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
