Christmas – a story of hope

The Christmas story is also a story of hope.

We cannot think about Christmas without also thinking about Easter; for He came to save.

Jesus came, as promised, and saved us, as promised. And now, we live with confident hope – for all that He promised is not only possible but yes and amen.

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬

Process and products used:

These pages in the NIV Journal the Word Bible (New Testament) feature the following products by Creative Worship Stamps. These are affiliate links, please see the Privacy Policy for details.

I started by creating the die-cuts. First, I stamped the film strip from the Picture This set onto mixed media paper then cut it out by hand. I stencilled over it using the Star Pattern stencil using yellow ink and a blending brush. I stamped the word “HOPE” over it using the Typewriter Alpha. Next, I stamped the flower and leaves, using the Hope Blooms set, onto mixed media paper, then cut them out using the coordinating dies. I coloured them using watercolour paint.

Next, I created the background. I stamped the flower and leaves from Hope Blooms in purple and green. I swiped the purple ink pad on the bottom for depth of colour. Then, I stencilled through the Delightfully Delicate stencil in both colours. I continued to blend the colours over the page using a blending brush.

I stamped the film strip again, in black ink, in a couple places then glued the die-cuts to the page. Next, I stamped the title using the He Is and None Other Name stamp sets. I added “where flowers bloom..” on the top of the left page using a stamp from the Hope Blooms set.

Lastly, I finished the page with some white paint splatters. The text was highlighted using a purple marker and residual green ink on the blending brush.

Be still, be still – Love has come to make a way!

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
