“Hi Friend” is a 2025 devotional by Illustrated Faith on the topic of godly friendship.
I’m just really enjoying journaling through their devotional kits more and more, and feeling refreshed by seeing all the fellowship in the Illustrated Faith community on Instagram.
I’m so thankful for the reminders in this devotional towards true friendship, based on His friendship, and to love well the dear friends God has brought into my life.
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:10

Unwavering love
I loved personalizing 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, as prompted in this session of the devotional, to illustrate how we are to love one another. What a joy to have lasting friends who stick around like Jesus! It’s a love focused more on giving than receiving, and I’m so thankful.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends..
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Trustworthy friend
It’s truly a blessing to have friends who I can be real with and who expects the same, so that we can encourage one another.
Is it just me noticing that life lately is just so intense? So many friends are facing problem on top of problems. I can empathize, having just come out of several myself, but I can say again and forever because I’ve seen it – our God is up to good, so look for the good! See the invitation to draw close and closer. You can trust Him with this too.
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Psalm 62:5-8

Ever present friend
I’m thankful for the One who sees all, knows all, never leaves, is always there, and still says “come closer”…
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” [John 14:16-17]
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
Psalm 139:7

Praying friend
Wrapping up this devotional and remembering…
“Your reward is in heaven,” he said.
“You’re a pink diamond and one of the most gracious people I know,“ she said.
“You’re a soldier in a spiritual battle,” he said.
“You’re not alone in this,” she said.
“I’m praying for you,” they all said.
I’m beyond thankful for the friends who ran with me, cheered me on, and lifted me up in the darkest moments.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
James 5:16
