“I trust you with this” – a thought that has been on my mind since listening to a podcast on the topic of surrender around Easter and I think I’ll be considering it a while.
The idea is that God has entrusted many things to us for fruitfulness; which is both a command and a blessing. A “command” meaning we are instructed to do this as His people. And a “blessing” meaning He has enabled us to fulfill this purpose.
He put people in our lives – our family, relatives, friends, coworkers, and neighbours. He provided a home, material possessions, and finances. He endowed us with spiritual gifts, hobbies, work, and skills. He has written a story through our life experiences and testimonies. He’s given us a set amount of time and give us access to many spaces, including this online one.
He has given these and much more, and essentially said “I trust you with this”…
What have I done with it all?
How am I stewarding what is rightfully His?
Be faithful with little
One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
Luke 16:10

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace
1 Peter 4:10
The “little” serves a purpose. As we are faithful and responsible with whatever we are given, we prove ourselves trustworthy to handle more.
All the “little” we do matters. We may not know the purpose of it all and shouldn’t base the importance of a task or thing on our assessment of its significance. We simply do not know how God will use our obedience. So, if God asks it of you – it matters.
It is all for Him
It is not about us and our glory. As we live out our purpose, despite all the obstacles, despite the weariness at times – when we persevere – we encourage others to do the same.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
This is most applicable to me when it comes to caring for our home. The house we currently live in is not one I would’ve chosen for myself and so I’ve had a very poor attitude towards it and start grumbling whenever something starts malfunctioning.
I’ve now come to see this house as belonging to God and entrusted to us for a time. God is doing a restorative work in our house through us and working in us in the process. This is something I keep in mind as we repair and renovate and make it home.

These pages are in a basic, blank, A5 notebook that I use for faith journaling. I used some leftover ephemera pieces from previous devotional kits by Illustrated Faith.
I also used a printable by @kristina.proffitt called Prayers & Promises.
Be encouraged
Whatever He has called us to is not meant to be done without Him. The good news is that He has promised to provide all the help we will need and He is God so that is mighty help!
When we have difficulty discerning how He has called us or need to know which way to go, we can count on His promise to provide wisdom to those who are humble enough to seek Him.
Lastly, He is gracious and faithful, so although we may be unfaithful, He remains faithful to us and true His plans.
