He knows what it feels like.
Jesus, my Lord and Saviour – I am very familiar with Him and seek Him often for comfort, guidance, and help to do His will. However, I realized recently that I remained distant from Him in some ways because I don’t often go to Him as my brother who understands the human struggle.
I was encouraging my son, recently, to persevere in his schooling and reminded him of the purpose in it. Yes, the academics portion is important but it’s far more important that he learn perseverance through the challenges he faces in school. The temptation to distract himself or procrastinate when it’s boring. The temptation to give up and quit when it’s too hard. All good reasons to call on God for help to press on.
Sometimes, he is discouraged because he looks at his younger siblings and see them having more free time to play while he has longer school days because he’s in high school. I encouraged him with the reminder that he is being an example to his younger siblings in how to persevere and should focus forward and not backwards.
Look at the example of others who have gone before him. Look at the example he has in his father and I.
Focus on the joy before him. Focus on Jesus who is his older brother who went before him; focus on his example.
And, that was encouragement I needed myself.
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Matthew 12:49-50
In 100 Days of Bible Promises, @shannanoel reminds us that “when you go to Jesus, He doesn’t take anything – He gives. He puts into your soul the nourishment and peace you need to experience true rest.”
He not only gives us His example to follow, but also teaches us His way and helps us to walk in it.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:29-30

He is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.

This doesn’t look like a typical wintry scene but I just had to take inspiration from the design already on the page!
I stamped the two birds from Sweet Birds, masking the text with washi tape beforehand so that it wouldn’t be covered. Then, I used watercolour paint to colour them.
Because the clouds were yellow brown, I used the same colour of ink to add snowflakes from the Snowstorm stencil. I did the same in purple to tie in that colour from the birds. Then, I added some words – “peace”, “calm”, etc – from the Peace Joy Love stencil in similar inks. I also added some colour to the pages themselves, particularly to the edges, for a more cohesive look.
I highlighted the text using a green pencil crayon then added my notes. The title was created using the Have Courage, Boss Lady Alpha, Skinny Caps Alpha, and Typewriter Alpha stamps. I didn’t get a consistent impression so I outlined some of the letters using a black pen and filled them in more using a black pencil crayon.

🎶 Human ~ Sarah Kroger
Believing that Jesus is my brother enables me to be so very real with Him. To keep nothing hidden from Him because of shame. To go to Him in all my human weaknesses trusting that He will understand and give me the counsel and help I truly need.
Like a close friend that just gets you and doesn’t judge where you are right now in your growth – I’ve grown closer to Him in the process.
He knows what it’s like, friends; come as you are, come today, and learn His way.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
