Walk in the Way of Life

The upside down “e” in the title of this page was unintentional but, in hindsight, also very appropriate. For, sometimes, we can think that we’re doing what is right but soon learn, by His grace, that it was wrong.

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬-‭14‬

We cannot expect to grow closer to God if we’re walking a path that leads away from Him. We cannot walk in life if we are on a path that leads to death. I’m thankful for all the course corrections He’s made in my life. Our God is faithful!

Salvation is that way – Jesus Christ. Seek Him. Follow Him.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬

Process and products used:

This page in the Illustrating Bible by DaySpring features the following products by Creative Worship Stamps. These are affiliate links, please see the Privacy Policy for details.

I started by stamping the verse reference using the Jumbo Textured Numbers stamp set and the Boss Lady Alpha stamp set and beige ink. The colon was done using the dots on the I and J stamps in the Boss Lady Alpha stamp set.

Next, I used the Vintage Ledger Page stamp on a brown sticky note using a dark brown ink. I stamped the definition for “salvation” over that, using the Faith Definitions 1 stamp set, and glued it to the page. Then, I stamped some florals around that using the Nature Silhouettes 4 set in green and purple inks.

Next, I stamped the word “walk” and the signpost from the Walk with Jesus stamp set in black ink onto mixed media paper and cut them out using the coordinating die set. I coloured the signpost using watercolour paint. Then, I applied some of the dark brown ink to the edges of the walk die-cut using a blending brush. I glued these to the page. Then, I stamped the rest of the title using the Typewriter Alpha set and the word “life” from the He Proved His Love set.

Lastly, I applied some beige ink using the Herringbone Tiles stencil to create arrows pointing in the same direction as the sign. I highlighted the verses using a brown marker and stencilled below them as well. Then, I finished with some white paint splatters.

We are prone to wander, but thank God He turns us about and leads us back Home.

He restores my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

The inspiration for this page came from the Walk with Jesus stamp set. It is part of a series I’m sharing this month as I reflect on having a simple faith – one that is simply focused on Jesus and walking with Him. Find all the posts here: walking with Jesus.
