Courage in the fire

True courage, as shown through Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, is standing firm in faith while trusting God with the outcome.

True Courage is the latest devotional by Illustrated Faith. Written by @brookepetermann_art, it invites us to “take a closer look at what it means to live with true courage and step into a life marked by courageous faith”.

This session featured Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego – three Jewish men who were thrown into a blazing furnace for refusing to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden idol yet survived. They stuck to their faith of worshipping God only, acknowledged His sovereignty to deliver them but that even if He didn’t, they would not bow down.

“True courage rests not in knowing how the story will end, but in knowing the God who holds it.” ~ Brooke.

I have felt discouraged at times when I move in obedience but then don’t see the result I expect. So, I was encouraged by the reminder in this session to have an “even if” mindset.

Even if there is no visible fruit from my efforts, I will continue to live by faith and walk in obedience while trusting God to do His will.

He’s shown us again and again – it’s going to be so good! So, I will meet Him in the fire with rejoicing.

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines… yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Products used

I opted to use the digital version of the devotional kit. I’m really enjoying the benefits of working with the printables and the flexibility they allow.

My journaling is in my faith journal which is a basic, blank, A5 notebook.

I also used some stamp sets and washi tape, also by Illustrated Faith, which are older items from my stash.

Be encouraged

🎶 In All Things ~ TEMITOPE

These present sufferings cannot compare
To heaven and the Hope that waits for us there
In light of glory, we can stand and believe
There’s not a moment here that can’t be redeemed

We know in all things, in all things
God will work it together, for good and for better
For those who love Him

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.
