The Lord is near; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I love the design of the Vintage Floral Collection – the detail is so intricate and beautiful! I stamped one of its florals onto mixed media paper, twice, then used the coordinating die to cut it out. Then, I coloured them using watercolour paint.
Next, I worked on the background using the Herringbone Tiles stencil and a blending brush. The brown ink was much deeper in colour than I was expecting. I loved how it looked but didn’t want the entire page to be that dark so I used the residual ink to continue adding some colour to the background in a gradual fade.
I used the same floral to add some detail to the background using second-generation stamping. Then, I added some brown ink splatters to the pages. After they dried, I added the painted florals to the page. They stood out against the background too much so I stamped the floral again in black ink to echo the black ink on the die-cuts. Then, I added some white splatters over the florals using acrylic paint.
I stamped “stay the course” using Worshipful Wordfetti in the same brown ink. The title was created using Boss Lady Alpha, Skinny Caps Alpha, and Typewriter Alpha stamps. I finished the page by highlighting the text using a marker, outlining with a black pen, and adding a date stamp.

This page is a reminder to stay the course while praying like God is indeed near.
For He goes with us – into exile, into the wilderness, into the valley, into battle, and into the promise. He is not some distant God but “God with us”. He’s coming again yet He never left.
Here are a few more verses that remind us of His nearness:
“Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.” ~ Psalms 139:7-8
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34:18
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4
He is actually not far from each one of us, for “In him we live and move and have our being”
Acts 17:27-28
