God is faithful to keep His word.
What He has spoken will certainly come to pass. All that He has promised, all that He said He would do, He will most certainly do.
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Numbers 23:19
Pray believing He will do it
Praying like His promises are true means praying while believing that we can count on Him to provide us with what we need to live for Him today.
I think it’s amazing that the almighty God who created everything chose to make promises to us and to invite us to call on Him to provide them. Promises of mighty help, deliverance, provisions, comfort, counsel, and even sleep. Psalm 127:2 says that He gives His beloved sleep. That’s one promise I call on frequently when I wake during the night.
Calling on His promises takes knowing that you are indeed His beloved child to be confident in asking Him to do these things in your life. It takes believing that these promises are real and available to us.
Pray according to His will
At the same time, these requests for His promises have to be tempered with submission to His will.
Jesus demonstrated that for us. In the Garden of Gethsemane, before His arrest and crucifixion, fully knowing what was ahead, knowing the sacrifice required, knowing the joy that was ahead… He prayed.
My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.
Matthew 26:39
In Matthew 6:10, the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus tells us to pray for God’s kingdom to come, and for His will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven. All prayers for God’s will to be done are guaranteed yeses.
Pray with discernment
Another part of praying like His promises are true has to do with discernment. It is knowing what God has said, in His word, will be and having eyes to see what He is doing right now.
Again, I think it is so amazing how much God reveals to us! He doesn’t leave us in the dark to be surprised but tells us what is to come, what to expect and watch for with alertness. This can be confusing but He gave us His Spirit to guide us and so that we would understand.
It takes discernment to pray His promises, to pray for what is relevant to today, what is needed today, what is in line with the work He is doing today. This requires walking with God. It takes keeping in step with His Spirit. When we don’t know what to ask for, we should ask the Spirit to intercede for us.

The design of this page is inspired by a vintage style card that was created by my fellow creative team member, Melissa, during a recent live in the Creative Worship Stamps VIP group on Facebook.
My page is not as detailed or layered as hers but I am using some of the techniques that she shared. As I’m reflecting on the promises of God, which is written in His word, I thought this kraft coloured paper and vintage style would be fitting.
The page on the other side has some bleed through from the dye ink that I used. So, I created on a piece of paper and then glued it to the page.
I started by tearing the edges of the paper so that it would fit the size of the bible and also to give it a distressed look. I then emphasized that by darkening the paper, and the edges especially, using brown inks and a blending brush.
Next, I used the Vintage Ledger Page stamp. I had some trouble getting the stamp impression to stand out in the background. Maybe it’s the ink I chose or the paper itself but the effect turned out more muted than I wanted.
Then, I added to the background using a floral from the Vintage Floral Collection. I also stamped the butterfly, from that same stamp set, onto mixed media paper, cut it out using the coordinating die, and then coloured it with watercolour paint. After it dried, I went over the edges using brown ink and a blending brush.
The title was created using a combination of the Boss Lady Alpha, Typewriter Alpha, and Skinny Caps Alpha stamp sets.
Next, I added some more detail to the background using green watercolour paint to match the painted butterfly. Then I stamped the butterfly on the page again to fill in some areas that looked a bit empty.
I glued the painted butterfly to the page, added some white splatters using acrylic paint, highlighted the text, and added a date stamp. I also added a few more butterflies that were cut out from washi tape (by Illustrated Faith) just to pull it all together.

🎶 This Side of Heaven ~ Seph Schlueter
We have proof of God’s faithfulness to His word throughout scripture but we see it most beautifully in the life of Jesus Christ.
He came as promised, died to redeem us as promised, but He didn’t remain dead. He was resurrected as promised. And now, we who put our faith in Him can live with the hope that He will do as He has spoken and we too will be resurrected to eternal life one day.
So, which promises are you calling on today? Which promises are you seeing Him fulfill today?
For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:20
