Transformed; new life

We are justified, being sanctified, and will be glorified.

This is the final post in the series on transformation which is the theme I focused on in the month of May. I started with an introduction to this topic with Transformed; from glory to glory which is about the sanctification process.

Then, I shared about the new heart we are given, one of flesh instead of stone, and the joy we experience as a result. I also shared about our new body; a temple now and glorified in the future. After that, I shared about the new spirit we receive when we are born again. And, last time, I shared about our new mind in Jesus Christ, through His word, which sets us apart to be used by God. This last post is in part a summary as well as sharing about what comes after transformation.

My journaling is in 100 Days of Bible Promises. The devotional for day 45 is about Jesus overcoming the world through His death and resurrection. He overcame the enemy, defeated death, and gave us power over sin in our lives. Because of what He accomplished, we have the gift of eternal life with Him.

In Philippians 2:12-13, Paul tells us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” We do this while having the following mindset.

We are justified

When we put our faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation of our soul, we are justified.

We are given the Holy Spirit which seals and marks us as belonging to God. We are made right with Him, reconnected to Him, and we are declared righteous. We are essentially taken from the path of destruction and placed on the path of life; a path we walk.

We are being sanctified

Following this conversion is the process of sanctification which is the journey of faith to become more like our saviour. God declares that we are like Him while at the same time bringing forth that reality.

We see from scripture that God sanctifies a person because of His mercy. This means that sanctification is His gift freely given to us.

[Ephesians 2:8-10] “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Sanctification is work that the Holy Spirit initiates and sustains (Galatians 3:1–3; 5:16–18).

God doesn’t just expect us Christians to be loving and compassionate. Instead, He creates a heart that loves and shows compassion. He matures us into people who strive to do good in the world.

We do our part by being aware and by participating, by being surrendered to the process, keeping in step with the Holy Spirit and following His lead. We should expect to see the growth of the fruit of the Spirit which is Christ-like character.

We will be glorified

The end result of sanctification is glorification.

In the future, sanctification includes a change in the body, complete healing, and perfecting what it means to be human according to the example of Jesus.

It is complete Christlikeness, the eradication of sin, and eternal life spent in perfect communion with God.

This is the new life in Jesus Christ

We get to live as one who is justified, who is being sanctified, and who looks forward to being glorified.

[Ephesians 5:26-27] “Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendour, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”

[1 Thessalonians 5:23] “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Jesus made a way to the Father, which we can access now, and He gave us hope for a future with Him.

As we wait for the fulfillment of all that He has promised, we get to live victoriously. We get to live with rejoicing at this incredible gift until He takes us Home.

Let us walk by faith, with hope in Him, and love God and others with joy!

For Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

And in Romans 15:13, Paul says “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” May I also add that we do this with abundant joy.

🎶 What More ~ Leeland, Newlands Worship

I was lost
Wandering in shame
I forgot my name ’til you found me
I was tired
From carrying that weight
Of all of my mistakes ’til you found me

You clothe me in your righteousness
Covered all my brokenness
Showed me where I belong
You placed a ring upon my hand
You sealed the promise once again
And showed me where I belong

What more could I ask for
What more could I hope for You are
Jesus all I’ll ever need
The way to the father
My hope for tomorrow You are
Jesus all I’ll ever need
More than enough for me
How could I ask for more
Jesus

Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonour they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.
