Walk in Light

To walk in light means to walk in love.

It means to live a life that puts the love of Jesus Christ on display.

I’ve been thinking about the church lately and praying for many in the body. I see so many at odds with one another over non-doctrinal beliefs and personal preferences. But, I’m also encouraged to see others living faithfully and supporting one another.

As I am reflecting on this, the word “light” keeps popping up so I’m looking to scripture to understand what God wants to reveal to me on the topic. This led to the creation of this page.

for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.

Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬-‭10‬

Thank you, Lord, for establishing us in love and enabling us to walk in light. By Your power, we can dwell in unity with humility, gentleness, and patience. May we speak truth to one another. May brotherly love abound.

Process and products used:

This page in my Illustrating Bible by DaySpring features the following products by Creative Worship Stamps. These are affiliate links, please see the Privacy Policy for details.

This page was such a joy to create! I used the Floating Circles stencil to create the background using a blending brush and yellow, green, and pink inks.

Then, I stamped some flowers onto mixed media paper using the Blooms With Grace set and cut them out using the coordinating Blooms With Grace dies. I coloured them with watercolours and splattered some of the paint on the background to add depth and interest to the pattern. After the flowers dried, I glued them along the edge of the page.

Next, I stamped the title using the Print Script Caps and Lowercase Alpha stamps. I added some white dots, using a Gelly Roll pen, to the word “light” as well as to the flowers. The other phrases in black ink are from the Bloom With Grace stamp set.

The page looked a bit sparse in the areas surrounding the title and words so I used the Peace Joy Love stencil to add the word “love” in the same inks as the background. I also stamped hearts in a few places using the Postage Stamp Add-ons set. Then, I finished by underlining the verses that stood out to me using a marker.

🎶 Let the Light In ~ Kari Jobe

I feel like a broken record as I keep saying that the Time is Short. It’s time for us to wake up and live with alertness while we still can; to live with that sense of imminence like the early church.

Our walk, i.e. the way in which we live, shows us to be disciples of Jesus Christ. He said it plainly that this is made apparent in the way that we love. We cannot love well if we are not living in awareness of how well we are loved. Draw near today. Fill up and pour out.

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.
